Jed P. Friedland joined the firm in 2022, after 34 years in litigation practice handling sexual misconduct, toxic torts, personal injury, professional negligence, real estate and business disputes. The latter half of his career has focused predominantly on construction defect litigation representing commercial and residential developers and contractors. He has appeared for hearings, mediations, arbitrations and trial in 25 California counties and before the California State Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee, and numerous County Boards of Supervisors and municipal planning/design review committees.
Mr. Friedland has handled thousands of depositions which informs his public presentations: Deposition Survival School, Virtual Depositions in a Post COVID World and Conflict is the Opportunity of a Lifetime. He is a mediator for Monterey County Superior Court, past co-chair of the National Association for Community Mediation, and past mediation instructor/curriculum designer at Monterey College of Law and Kern County College of Law. He authored articles for JAMS and ACResolution Magazine on ADR and lectures on mediation, facilitation and communication.
Mr. Friedland competed in inter-collegiate debate tournaments and earned a BA from Bard College. While at University of San Francisco School of Law he worked as a private investigator, was active in moot court, and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Remedies. Jed has extensive background in historic preservation, and was a real estate broker, campaign counsel for Dean D. Flippo Monterey County District Attorney, and Judge for USF’s oral advocacy program. He was selected by Rotary International as Ambassador of Goodwill to Brazil and remains active as a musician and writer.
