Matthew J. Becker came to Goodman Neuman Hamilton LLP after previously working for a Northern California law firm representing clients in the areas of public entity liability defense, construction defect, premises liability, general liability defense, labor and employment law, and personal injury defense. He also devoted three years to representing parents in special education and students services issues while supporting the employment and labor law practice of the Forrest & Becker Law Firm.
Mr. Becker graduated from Ursinus College (Pennsylvania) – B.A. in Politics, San Diego State University – M.A. in Political Science, Chapman University – M.A. in Education – Curriculum and Instruction, and Lincoln Law School of Sacramento. He is member of the Association of Defense Counsel for Northern California and Nevada, and admitted to practice in California, all four United States District Courts of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.
Prior to entering the legal field, Mr. Becker spent over two decades as a public school teacher and coach (wrestling, football, track) in California and Tennessee. He continues to coach by volunteering with Casa Grande High School wrestling team and the Petaluma Wrestling Club. Mr. Becker also volunteers on the Board of Directors for the Petaluma Wrestling Club Foundation which supports youth development in Sonoma County. When not volunteer coaching or defending clients, he will be outdoors and most likely shredding the slopes on his snowboard or skis.
